Welcome To My Micro-farm! Transforming My Lawn Into A Thriving Micro-farm

Sunlight dances through the leaves, glittering like stars across the sky as it kisses the morning dew. I sit in stillness as the world slowly stirs to life in my Eden.

I smile as my sleeping kitten is startled out of her dream world by a butterfly landing on her ear, beside me. The butterfly is one of several swirling around us in a joyful waltz, sampling gleefully from the abundance of open blooms surrounding us.

It’s hard to believe that only a year ago, this garden was barren.

I purchased this little patch of earth just last summer as a new construction build. The home itself has been a huge blessing—everything is new and in perfect working order, which means much less maintenance for me.

This frees up my time to focus on what I truly love: being a mother, writing, and farming.

The farming part, however, presented a challenge, and this is where the new construction aspect revealed its flaws. The land around me had been ravaged by digging and building, compacted by heavy machinery, and exposed to toxic plastics laid beneath sheets of prefabricated lawn.

But I am a determined person, and I felt a deep calling to farm. It is both my responsibility and my honor to take the time to heal this little piece of land, to reintroduce life, to care for it, and to let it care for me in return.

Good things take time, but when you find your passion, it brings you to life, and that life spills into everything around you.

If you’ve ever felt the call in your bones to grow, to heal, to nurture the land but have been unsure where to begin, or felt limited by a lack of space or time, follow along with me.

On this journey, I’ll share my experiences—successes, failures, and lessons learned—as I continue to transform my 0.25-acre patch in the mountains into the boutique micro-farm of my dreams.

Let’s grow together!
